The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Fourah Bay College (FBC) Chapter has launched a project titled: “National Sensitisation of Students on Voter Registration”.

The Project which aims at getting students across the country well sensitised and included in the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone Voter Registration Exercise, was launched in collaboration with representatives from over twenty Universities and Colleges across the country.

It will see students embarking on robust nationwide sensitisation on the forthcoming voter registration process.

Women’s Leader of the Chapter, Amanda Hawa Kanu said the Campaign will put heads together in order to champion the forthcoming voter registration process and also ensuring that citizens are registered.

She went on that they will to also embark on robust sensitisation about the importance of voter registration in a democratic dispensation.

Chairman of the occasion, Amadu Kamara said the denial syndrome for citizens to take an active part in the national event has been the norm recent. He reminded the meeting that it is only when someone has a voter registration card that he or she would be allowed to vote in the 2023 general elections.

He furthered that it is only when citizens cast their votes for the right person that would enhance good economic policies.

He used the forum to assure his audience that the only person that has the qualities to upgrade development programmes in the country for now is President Julius Maada Bio, adding that the denial syndrome for citizens to take an active part in the national event has been the norm recent with a pragmatic example of the 2021 Mid-Term Population and Housing Census.

He encouraged all and sundry to understand the importance of such meetings geared toward sensitising citizens about enhancing voter registration.

Mr. Kamara also encouraged heads of other universities and colleges to put in their best in changing the narrative of denial syndrome in the forthcoming voter registration which will commence on September 3rd and expected to end on October 3rd this year.

Heads of campuses from FBC, IPAM, COMHAS, Limkokwing, FTC, Milton Margai, Blue Crest and College of Theology among others were present and pledge their supports.
