By Prince C. Kamara
Reliable eye witnesses reported that yesterday morning a number of police officers actually went to the Society for Radio Democracy 98.1FM at New England Ville to arrest the former Resident Minister East, Karamoh Kabba.
Speaking to AYV after escaping what Mr. Kabba termed a harrowing experience, he explained to AYV that he went peacefully to the radio station asa guest to articulate his APC party’s response to the SLPP’s GTT report and a range of other issues affecting the masses; which as opposition, he is entitled to do.
He added that when the radio programme ended, he was informed by some radio staff that about four police personal led by Superintendent of police, Brima Kamara were outside asking for him.
Karamoh Kabba said: “But before this incident, the IG called me to his office and I was thoroughly intimidated. He instilled quite large doses of intimidation on me. Because if you tell someone you are following his actions and that his actions are subversive and tantamount to treason that is very fearful. But I played it cool because I did not want them (police) to fulfill their agenda to intimidate and muzzle me from doing my objective criticism as a member of the opposition. So, today I stayed put thanks to Radio Democracy I was in their protective custody until the police head of crime came and apologized. Even the police seemed not to understand why I was wanted.
I believe that the attempt to arrest me is a consequence of the Inspector General of Police Dr. Richard Moigbe’s description of my activities as subversive and tantamount to treason.
Reacting, APC National Secretary General Ambassador Osman Yansaneh when he arrived at the scene explained to AYV that he was alerted about the incident and rushed to see what was wrong. He said Karamoh Kabba was a guest at the 98.1 FM radio station to discuss President Bio’s one hundred days achievements.
He added that the programme went on well but that at the end, they were informed that police had arrived with the intention of arresting Karamoh Kabba as he stepped out of the radio station. Ambassador Yansaneh said this was confirmed by the radio station when he inquired and so he rushed to the station to see what he could do.
He added that he made several other calls to the IG and other authorities to find out what the whole thing was about. “The AIG Operations when I contacted him said he was not aware of any such police operation to arrest Karamoh Kabba,” Ambassador Yansaneh said.
“The IG called me and I explained to him what had transpired. The IG told me that two days ago he had invited Karamoh Kabba to come to the police headquarter and that as Secretary General I was aware of that fact. The IG said the invitation extended to Karramoh was to conduct investigation into an alleged clandestine meeting,” Ambassador Yansaneh said.
According to him, the APC has a lot of explanation to do regarding the immediate past and current political climate which is not favorable, and that to accomplish that goal, the APC has been sending out teams to meet and hold discussions with their supporters all over the country on party and national issues affecting them, adding that Karamoh Kabba had held one such meeting for which he (Kabba) had been requested to report to the IG for random questioning, which he did.
Also present at the scene was Member of Parliament representing Constituency 127, Hon. Sirajin Rollings-Kamara.
