NES Meets on Tribalism, Political Intimidation in Kenema


Christopher Brima said the North, East and Southern regions coalition notes with displeasure the present state at which political campaigns are being carried out with messages of hate speech, regional and tribal sentiments.

He said the coalition sees such ugly development as very unfortunate and therefore out rightly condemns the act in no uncertain terms.

He said reports emanating from the social media from above named regions indicate that some political party supporters have come or continue to come under attack or are being threatened because of their political beliefs/association if not urgently addressed has the potential to undermine our fragile democracy and will disturb the fragile democracy and disturb the peace and stability of Sierra Leone.

Christopher Brima pointed out that the North, South and Eastern regions Coalition of Civil Society is committed to fighting against hate, regional and tribal sentiments and encouraged participants to serve as ambassadors in their localities.

Political party representatives were opportune to make statements and proffer solutions towards addressing such emerging issues.
