Knowing that the ministry was the body responsible for health issues in the country, the AYV management had written a letter on 9 November this year to the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Brima Kargbo, requesting the partnership between the two institutions.

Dr Victor Suma, general manager at AYV, said the relationship would help to programatically structure a syllabus of topics that could run right through the year.

“Help and advice in sourcing the requisite funding for the sustainability of the programme and coordinate the participation of health experts in the health ministry for their periodic intervention,” he said.

Meanwhile, on 15 November, the CMO had a meeting with the AYV management at his Youyi Building office in Freetown to have a plan for the successful implementation of the programme.

In his statement, the CMO welcomed and thanked the AYV team for the initiative and pledged his ministry’s total commitment to the program.

Dr. Kargbo went on to say that they would give the human and technical support needed for the successful implementation of the the health program and that the AYV should feel free to call on them at anytime they would need their support.

He however stated that at the moment the ministry did not have funds to support the program but encouraged the AYV  to look out for partners or donors in the health sector and if recommendation was needed, his ministry would do it gladfully.

Responding, the general manager of  AYV expressed satisfaction over the kind of reception given to his team by the Chief Medical Officer and also pleadged his institution’s commitment to working with them.

Dr. Suma furthered that the primary aim of the health programme was to contribute positively towards the growth and development of Sierra Leone’s health sector. He continued by saying that  if they were to grow as a nation, they would need to pay special attention to the health sector.

Giving an overview of the programme, the would-be presenter, Swaliho Vandi, told all that the programme would be coming up live on Tuesdays from 3pm to 4pm and repeat broadcasts on Sundays  from 7pm to 8pm.

He went on to say that the ministry should help in designing topics as well as providing personel as guests for the programme.

He furthered that, the program would be looking at all aspects of the health sector in the country and that his team would be travelling throughout the country to have vedios of happenings in the health sector and bring them to the citizens of this nation.
