The particulars of offence disclosed that between 8th and 11th August 2015, the three accused persons, Alfred Ansumana, Ibrahim Tarawalie and Alphajor Jalloh conspired with unknown individuals to rob the complainant, Maxim Braidwain of five (5) pieces of assorted diamonds valued at two hundred and fourteen million Leones, one I-phone valued at five million-three hundred and fifty thousand Leones including two hundred United State Dollars. Allthe items valued at two hundred and seventy five million, four hundred and fifty thousand Leones.
The State Prosecutor, Umu Sumaray could not lead evidence in the matter due to the conspicuous absence of the complainant, Maxim Braindwain, but applied adjournment. The matter comes up January 26, 2016.
In a separate development, Magistrate Mohamed Serray Wurie of Court N0.6 in Freetown has committed the trial of Bernard Pratt in the High Court of Sierra Leone for the offence of Wounding with Intent and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm contrary to Section 20 of the Offences Against the Persons Act of 1861.
Prior to the committal of the matter to the High Court, Magistrate Serray Wurie told the court that he had considered the charges brought against the accused person, ranging from Wounding with Intent to Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
He said during the Preliminary Investigation of the matter, the complainant Amadu Juldeh Bah testified he was physically attacked by the accused and during the scrimmage sustained injuries and was later hospitalized at the Connaught Hospital in the central part of the country’s capital, Freetown.
According to Magistrate Serray Wurie, a prosecution Witness, Daniel Pessima also testified he was present and saw the accused physically attacking the complainant, Amadu Juldeh Bah.
He added that he was satisfied with the evidence adduced by the prosecution in respect of the matter and ordered the accused stand trial in the High Court of Sierra Leone.
The accused was represented by Lawyer J.M. Jengo and J.Mans.
