Unacceptable 100% 'University Fee' Increment

The Fontricia Children's Foundation is appalled over the exponential and unexplainable increment in the cost of entrance form of the University of Sierra Leone.

The entrance form has witnessed an alarming increment from Le250,000 in 2016 to Le500,000 is 2017.

The rationale for the 100 percent increment in just a year remain a mystery.

"This will definitely affect poor and suffering parents and students who have already endured enough frustration and extortion from the West African Examination Council (WAEC)," Executive Director of the the Fontricia Children's Foundation disclosed.

Abdul Fonti believes this action by the University of Sierra Leone only supports a violation of the right to education of poor students who have struggled to secure pass grades in a rotten education system.

"Such human rights violation should not be tolerated as it serves as a serious burden that could prevent qualified students admission into the university, " Fonti pointed out, while describing the decision as brutally wicked.

The Fontricia Children's Foundation therefore calls on the Government of Sierra Leone to intervene and ensure a speedy reverse of this decision and at least revert to the previous Le250,000.

We further urge the administration of the University of Sierra Leone to respect the rights of poor students aspiring to educate themselves amid rising poverty.
