The voter registration exercise, according to cross section of the chiefdom authorities, was aimed at ensuring active and positive participation of the Kaffu Bullom people, and for them to properly understand the voters’ registration process, a situation that could prompt an increase participation in the forthcoming pre elections exercise.
The meeting was also geared towards engaging and sensitizing different community stakeholders, as they were expected to disseminate the message to their people.
Speaking at the meeting, the Mammy Queen of the Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom Memunatu Kamara established that the meeting was a clear manifestation of Paramount Chief, PC Bai Shebora Shegba Gbereh proactive stance and preparedness to cooperate with the voter registration exercise.
NEC, Assistant District Electoral Officer for Port Loko District, Augustine Mohamed commended the Kaffu Bullom people for leading a national sensitization, as they happened to be the country’s first district to engage in such pre elections process, he vividly advised them not to politicize the process.
In his contribution, the Electoral Officer in the Port Loko District, Nfa Alie Sillah said voter registration ensured the right to citizens to vote and therefore called on eligible voters to come out and register.
Paramount Chief, PC Bai Shebora Shegba Gbereh III called on his subjects to disseminate the message about the voter registration and further encouraged them to cooperate with the entire exercise.
Furthermore, the Chief Superintendent of Police, Lungi Police Division, Jorwulor Gbonnoh said, they were responsible for the sustenance and consolidation of peace and stability in the country, as they would also provide essential services during the registration process.
Representatives from the ruling All People’s Congress and the opposition Sierra Leone people’s party called on their supporters to come out in numbers and register, as that would give them the legitimate right to actively participate in the imminent elections.
