Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire, Sierra Leone’s foremost media house dealing in the business of media broadcasting in Radio, TV, Print and Media Production with the aim to redefine media in Sierra Leone and beyond, yesterday 17th December, 2020 awarded its long serving, dedicated and hardworking staff on a ceremony held at the Empires Board Room on Wesley street in Freetown.
Antonia Howard, Director of News and Current Affairs, Training and Interns, was crowned ‘Staff of the Year’, an Awards second to the top-most Award in the Company, recognized after the ‘CEO’s Award’.
According to AYV Empire, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ambassador Anthony Navo Junior, the purpose of the award ceremony is to encourage, motivate and inspire staff to continue working hard.
The CEO further explained that he is proud of his staff and AYV is doing well because of the human resource. He encouraged all staff to desire the award and encouraged them to be dedicated in their work.
The CEO described the awardees as lucky because there are others who also worked hard within the months under review but that these awardees were exceptional. He therefore encouraged other staff to keep the fire burning and desire to win the award.
One of the awardees, Ransford Lube Metzger said he it was a shock but he managed to explain that he appreciates the CEO because this award will inspire him to do more as he now realizes that his hard work had been recognized.
Managing Director of AYV, Dr. Ezekiel Duramany Lakkoh, Communications and Project Director, Samuel Wise Bangura, Director of Administration, Stella Bangura and other senior management staff made similar sentiments encouraging other staff to desire the award as it is a great legacy to receive the award.
Antonia is one of the Presenters on AYV’s flagship programme Wake Up Sierra Leone; the biggest morning shows on television in Sierra Leone. She is also a senior reporter and the lead anchor on AYV’s Prime Time News.
When not on screen, Antonia works in the
newsroom; editing scripts and producing daily news bulletins. She started her
career in journalism in 2015 as an intern at
AYV where she worked on all three platforms; radio, television and newspaper. Antonia Howard holds a BA (Honours) degree in Mass Communications from Fourah Bay College; university of Sierra Leone and an MA in International Journalism.
