The Chief Minister of Sierra Leone, Professor David Francis has told media practitioners that the Julius Maada Bio-led New Direction government has delivered in Twenty-Eight out of Thirty-Eight commitments made in its 2018 Manifesto to the people of Sierra Leone.
He spoke on the significance of media engagement to share the progress in delivering of their 38 broad Manifesto, adding that the president and his government have continued to deliver in its flagship programme, Human Capital Development.
He further recounted that the government has delivered in improving the macro-economy, education, tourism, youth and women empowerment, gender and children affairs, water resources and among others.He said government has done remarkable well in the area of information and communications with the repeal of Part V of the Public Order Act, repealed of the IMC Act and the development of regulatory instruments for the ICT sector.
He spoke about the increase of gross external reserves to Seven Hundred Million United State Dollar (USD$700M) as well as impressive improvement in public debt management.
The chief minister highlighted certain commitments in the manifesto which they are yet to deliver in less than three years including mining and manufacturing sectors, diaspora affairs, sea and rail transport, rule of law, justice and human rights sector.
