Paramount Chief Dr. Adonis Abboud
Chiefdom elders, stakeholders and residents of Upper Bambara chiefdom, Kailahun district over the weekend crowned Dr. Adonis A. M. Abboud as Honorary Paramount Chief of Upper Bambara chiefdom in the Kailahun district.
The honour according to Paramount Chief Cyril Gondor, communicates that Dr. Abboud is now a son of the soil in the chiefdom and has similar rights as indigenes in all sphere of life.
Responding, Dr. Abboud thanked the stakeholders for the honour and assured them he will always be with them and will work in line with the respective guidelines of a Paramount Chief. His coronation will soon be held.
In another development, the Adonis Abboud Trust Fund has digitalized Kailahun districts with the installation of Satellite DStv packages in two schools.
The move is part of efforts to connecting pupils especially in rural communities to events and happenings around the world and also provide them with opportunities to unique learning experience.
The introduction of educational television via satellite has proven to be a decisive factor to the improvement of educational systems across the globe.
With educational channels on DStv, pupils have been provided the opportunity to unique learning systems which is very useful to their academic journey.
The installation of Satellite DStv Systems at the Pendembu Vocational Secondary School and the Roman Catholic Primary School according to Dr. Adonis Abboud is a support of the crusade by the Bio-led Government of Sierra Leone to exposing pupils/students to the powerful instrument of technology that links the world.
Dr. Abboud furthered that the provision of this satellite television systems is one way to ensure that it is not only those who are rich that should have the opportunity of listening to and watching whatever is happening across the world.
“My dear young men and women of Sierra Leone, you are the hope of our nation. You are the leaders of tomorrow. The government is determined to improve your today so that your tomorrow will be better. I urge you to take the opportunity to widen your vision and understanding so that you will know what is good from what is bad. Do not allow yourselves to be manipulated and used as tools and fodder in someone else’s agenda. Dr. Abboud stated.
The provision of these facilities was facilitated by the Deputy Minister of the Foreign Affairs and International Corporation, Solomon Jamiru who himself is an indigene of Pendembu.
He appealed to both pupils and teachers to make good use of the facility noting that the aim is to expose them to events across the globe.
Pendembu Vocational Secondary School, one of the oldest schools in Pendembu is one of the beneficiaries of this gesture.
Commending Dr. Adonis Abboud Trust Fund for the support, the Acting Principal Fayia Arnoald Nyuma said the facility is of immense importance to the school, adding that it will aid especially the English Language Department.
He promised to ensure that the facility is well utilised by pupils and teachers.
Dr. Abboud is the current Head of Consul of Serbia to Sierra Leone. He also doubles as Dean of the Consular Corps, Chief Executive Officer of Equinox Group, Chairman Capital Radio and Chairman of Pikin Bizness among other respectable positions he holds.
