“Voters will pay SLPP with victory in 2023” – SLPP J.J Saffa


Minister of Finance under the Bio-led Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) government, Jacob Jusu Saffa has predicted a 70% win for President Julius Maada Bio in the 2023 Presidential election.

Saffa was speaking at the official opening of the Rokel Commercial Bank Branch in Kailahun town over the weekend when he said: “The SLPP Government is implementing the Party’s 2018 Manifesto dubbed ‘The People’s Manifesto’ and President Bio’s development priorities remain firmly on course.”

He said the president is very much keen on the full implementation of the Free Quality Education Program, human capital development and infrastructure development.

JJ Saffa noted that even in the middle of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of President Bio is still undertaking tangible development projects like road and bridge construction, the district headquarter towns’ electrification and water supply projects.

He assured his audience that by the end of President Bio’s first term in office, the people of Sierra Leone would have seen a remarkable improvement in electricity and water supply in all district headquarter towns across the country.

JJ Saffa said the government is determined to revive the Boarding Home system for girls attending Junior and Secondary school and that this idea is meant to provide adequate care for girls to avoid teenage pregnancy and curtail the level of dropouts in schools.

He said very soon, the government will start the construction of modern and well-equipped mortuaries across the country, adding that the dead deserve to be treated with dignity before they are finally laid to rest.

The finance minister said even with Corona, the government continues to pay salaries on time to all verified government employees including security forces and university lecturers.

JJ Saffa said that the government has started paying monthly salaries to District Council Chairmen and their deputies, adding that local councilors have also started receiving a 50% increment in their monthly salaries.

Paramount Chiefs he said are now also being paid monthly salaries and that their conditions of service will soon be improved to match their special status in society.

The finance minister also assured the people of Kailahun that the road between Kailahun and Koindu will soon be constructed and a modern international market built in Koindu to facilitate cross border trade in the Mano River Union basin.

JJ Saffa noted that the electorate will definitely reward President Bio in 2023 by voting overwhelmingly for him to continue to serve them for another five years.
