The National Sports Authority Sierra Leone (NSA-SL) and the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire have agreed to work in close partnership to develop sports in the country.

Making a presentation during their visit to the Empire, Executive Director of the Authority Dr. Kenneth Brima stated that the NSA was established by an Act of Parliament in 2017 but only became operational in 2019 following his appointment as Executive Director alongside the appointment of the Board by His Excellency the President, Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio.

“As a new agency responsible for sports development in the country, we want to have more partners to work with in developing sports in the country,” Dr. Brima said.

Since the establishment of the Authority, the public is yet to fully understand its mission, vision, values, goals, aims and objectives; therefore, partnering with the AYV will help the NSA in its public education campaign.

“Sports is not only an entertainment but an industry which can be used to attract investors, tourists and other development partners, hence the essence for collaborating with Africa Young Voices Media Empire which has a wider coverage that will go a long way in helping the Authority publicize its policies, aims and objectives,” the Executive Director added.

In his response, President of the AYV Media Empire, Ambassador Anthony Navo Jr., expressed his delight over the establishment of the National Sports Authority in the country. He said many lovers of sports including himself, have been looking forward to the Authority to become operational.

“I have worked in Ghana where all Ghanaians by law contribute to the Ghana Sports Authority. Therefore, I am appealing to all Sierra Leoneans to contribute to the National Sports Authority Sierra Leone to make it succeed,” President Navo maintained.

The Africa Young Voices Media Empire founder and owner pledged his institution’s readiness to support and partner with the NSA-SL in order to ensure that sports is developed and benefits the country.

Earlier this week, a similar visit by the NSA-SL was made to the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) which also made a similar commitment.
