Information Minister

Mr. Daniel Kaitibie has been appointed by President Julius Maada Bio to the position of Director General of the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM), replacing Maxwell Massaqoui whose removal remains a mystery.

The release from the Office of the President at State House, simply states: “I write to inform you that it has pleased His Excellency the President, Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio to appoint you as Director General, National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM).”

The appointment is with immediate effect.

It could be recalled that before now there had been controversial issues regarding the running of NATCOM which had seen Maxwell Massaqoui summoned by the Parliamentary Committee on Telecommunications to explain. The Minister of Information Mohamed Rahman Swaray had also been dragged into the situation along with other persons. The matter was believed to have been settled until this sudden announcement from State House.
