Nigerian Olanrewaju Ajibola has won this year’s Zone 4.2 Individual Chess tournament involving over twenty five Chess players at the Hotel Bamoi, in Freetown.  According to Ansumana Kamara, President of the Sierra Leone Chess Federation this is the first time the country is hosting such a tournament. The Zone 4.2 Individual Chess Tournament was a week- long Competition that saw six amongst the eleven ECOWAS states that were able to take part at the Hotel Bamoi in Freetown. After the end of the highly competitive Zone 4.2 Individual Chess Championship, Nigerian Chess player Olanrewaju Ajibola according to his rating is the West African number One chess player that emerged as overall winner. Receiving the star prize and trophy on behalf of the Nigeria Chess Federation, Olanrewaju Ajibola said it means a lot for him and his country to defend the title. In the host category for the Zone 4.2 Individual Chess competition were fourteen Sierra Leonean Chess players. Winston Thomas won the star prize for this category. In the open section prize categories the cash prizes were, first position 1,200 US dollars, second prize 900 US dollars and third prize was 750 US dollars and other consolation prizes.
