The Sierra Fishing Company situated at Kissy Dockyard in the east part of Freetown is one of the private- owned business entities that has done great things in terms of complementing government strides towards cushioning development activities across the country, and the Sierra Leonean public in recognition for its patriotic representation in all spheres of national development, accord the company respect for it limitation and ability to produce excellent results where many detractors thoughts it’s impossible.

It is very important to take into cognizance the fact that focus, determination and enthusiasms are that condiments that give motivation its flavor and its abundantly clear that the focused minds set coupled with the administrative wisdom of the Managing Director of the Sierra Fishing Company, Bassem J. Mohamed as well as commitment and dedication on the part of the entire management staff have enabled to the company to grow from strength to strength over the years.

 

For past the four decades, Sierra Fishing Company has been the one and only successful fish production industry in the country, while many fly –by- night companies that emerged later had to submerge due to inexperience and the lack of well experience people to manage such a business venture,

The company also has the largest number of successful fish mongers including new ones who trade in fish selling as well as engaging in profitable and self-reliant business ventures, and in other to operate within the scope and component in consonance with best practice, management has brought in modernized and commodious cool rooms which have been already installed at the company’s operational zone for the preservation of fish products.

During a telephone conference, the Managing Director, Bassem Mohamed informed African Young Voices that his company has demonstrated competency and administrative dexterity towards ensuring uninterrupted service delivery to its numerous and  valued customers in particular and the  and the country in general.

He told the medium that his entity has over the years enjoyed public trust and confidence as a result of the company’s strategy in reducing poverty by creating employments for over one hundred youths from various part of the country.

Bassem Mohamed noted that, though there are some challenges, but that his company will continue to supply the market adequate and high quality fish products and it also on record that the company played commendable role during the outbreak of the world’s deadliest Ebola Virus in the country.

In the area of responding to its corporate social responsibility, Bassem Mohamed maintained that residents within the company operational area can attest to the fact that they have been engaged in positive communal development activities for the past four decades with an unblemished track record, unlike other fishing companies.

He said they have constructed mosque, community tap systems, promoting youth’s empowerment by providing financial assistance to various youth’s groups, scholarships to pupils and university students, donations to Muslims during the month of Ramadan and the extension of the company’s administrative buildings and to surmount growing challenges ahead.

 

Concluding, Bassem Mohamed his industry will stand firm behind government towards the realization of the Agenda For Prosperity by complementing government undeterred efforts in all spheres of national development , while wishing  its numerous and valued customers,  Government agencies and departments, various Muslims communities across the country and the people of Sierra Leone happy Ramadan greetings .
