In the same vein, presidential candidate of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) party, Dr. Samura MW Kamara came to our studios yesterday and was hosted on the same programme.

After making his vision and promises known to the nation in the event he is elected president on 27th March, 2018, he mentioned that he admires and has respect for the AYV and that he is can say with confidence that the AYV is a “credible, objective and reliable” media institution which seeks the interest of the wider public and called on the management to continue the trend.

The commendations coming from the two leaders come on the heels of recent attacks on AYV staff that came under intense criticism for reasons that are still unclear. At one point AYV staff had to be literally smuggled out of a political party conference hall for them not to have been lynched.

At some other times during campaign trails in and around Freetown AYV staff have been molested, insulted and threatened with violence and they had to escape to save their lives.

However with the pronouncements of the APC and SLPP presidential candidates, it is hoped that all of the violence and intimidation suffered by AYV staff in recent times would come to an end.
