The opening ceremony was graced my different dignitaries of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies including the private sector. Speaking at the occasion before declaring the state-of-the-art architecture of our time (Atlantic Lumley Hotel), President Koroma rained praises on the owners of the Hotel for such a magnificent Building offering the best decor and ambiance any 5 Hotel in a developed country could boast off having, noting that “the sprawling hotel construction in Sierra Leone, like the Atlantic Lumley Hotel is a clear manifestation that, Sierra Leone is ready for Business. Our concerted efforts in pushing forward the hospitality sector and the Tourism Industry is yielding dividend, Aberdeen and Lumley axis is a testament, a once deprived area is  now a business magnet” he added.

The president explained that, the Aberdeen-Lumley Area despite its elegance features was a deprived community but that due to the investment of his government in partnership with the private sector the Area is now an attractive area where business is booming, this is as a result of the good roads network and other infrastructural developments this area is enjoying.

The president noted that the opening of the Atlantic Lumley Hotel is a testament that the Country’s Service Sector is taking off, noting that “hotels serve as multiplier effects in the Tourism industry which plays a crucial role in the growth of the economy. We have to be very special to attract more tourists. I therefore call on all the staff of this establishment to work professionally because this building is nothing without the efforts of the staff” he advised.

The General Manager of the National Tourist Board of Sierra Leone (NTB), Mr. Yassin Kolleh Kargbo earlier welcomed the president, his entourage and distinguished guests to the epoch making event while explaining contemporary happenings in the Tourism Industry.

Other Speakers at the occasion were Tamba Raymond Gbetuwa – Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs) who represented the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Honorable Sidi Yayah Tunis, the Chairman Board of Directors National Tourist Board of Sierra Leone, Alhaji Ahmed S.B Wurie, Chairman Atlantic Lumley Hotel, Dickson Lau and the General Manager of the Atlantic Lumley Hotel, Sampson Fung.

The ceremony was climaxed by a comprehensive conducted tour of the president around the establishment including the presidential suites located at the third floor of the hotel.

The Atlantic Lumley Hotel is a luxury seafront hotel nested in the lovely Lumley Beach. The hotel is mere 15-minute drive from Freetown which is the capital city of Republic of Sierra Leone.
