According to Obi Frazer, President of the Sierra Leone Table Tennis Association, thirty six participants were registered for this year’s three-in-one package training course. The training started on Wednesday for umpires in both theoretical and practical aspects. On Friday and Saturday the training package was specifically for referees and about tournaments. He told AYV that this is the right time for Tennis officials and players in Sierra Leone to make good use of the training opportunity especially as the association is facing an upcoming competition.

George Windham is a para-athlete and was one the participants at the four-day refreshers’ course. He expressed his delight at receiving the International Table Tennis Federation Certificate, saying he is now better informed with regard the rules of Tennis and that come any tournament, he would do well if given the opportunity.

Before presenting the certificates to the 36 participants, the Deputy Director of Sports, Lamin Sesay encouraged them to put into practice what they learned and further use the knowledge to qualify and win future competitions for the country, adding that they should pass on the information to younger athletes.

He thanked the organizers including Mohamed Refaat Bacfonni the international expert from Egypt for the knowledge passed on to the Sierra Leonean participants.
